Yulianna Verba (b. 1992, Radyvyliv, Rivne region, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian multidisciplinary contemporary artist whose work delves into the layered essence of human existence through a diverse use of mixed media. She earned her master's degree from the Design Department at the National University "Lviv Polytechnic," where she studied from 2011 to 2015. Currently residing and working in Lviv, Verba’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in self-discovery, often influenced by her engagement in spiritual practices.
Verba’s art is recognized for its philosophical depth and her ability to integrate materials such as acrylics, oil paints, pastels, ceramics, and other tactile elements. Her unique process involves layering and often destructing the upper layers of her works to uncover hidden narratives, inviting viewers to explore the underlying emotions and ideas. This ongoing dialogue between creation and destruction forms the core of her art, mirroring the complexities of life and human existence.
Her work transcends traditional visual art, evolving from simple abstract forms to expressive multidimensional compositions. In particular, her ceramic pieces highlight the interplay between two- and three-dimensionality, symbolizing the materialization of thoughts and the invisible forces shaping human life. By reconnecting with tactile, physical mediums, Verba intentionally steps away from the digital realm while remaining open to how technology can expand her creative horizons.
Verba's work reflects her intuitive and organic approach to creation, guided by spontaneous ideas rather than rigid plans. Her art resonates with audiences seeking a deeper understanding of existence, offering a philosophical inquiry into the self, nature, and the universe.
Verba has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions that have showcased her distinct artistic voice. Recent exhibitions include Cosmogony of Senses at the Korsak Museum, Lutsk (2023), and From the People at Svitlo Gallery, Lviv (2023). Her work was featured internationally in Expand at the Motanka Festival, Kühlhaus Berlin, Berlin (2023), and Ukraine. Residence of Freedom in Riga (2023). In Lviv, she contributed to Fenix Reborn (2023) and performed Light of Our Hearts (2023). Upcoming in 2025, she will exhibit at Yuna Gallery, Drohobych, and participate in For the Sake of Life through the Mariupol Reborn Platform in Lviv.
Yulianna Verba continues to push the boundaries of her artistic practice, experimenting with new materials and methods. Her long-term vision includes creating immersive large-scale exhibitions that integrate visual, tactile, and auditory elements, offering profound, multidimensional experiences for her audience.
